Welcome to the International Defence Cricket Challenge site. This site is provided for all IDCC participants and for interested people outside the IDCC community.
The IDCC is a cricket tournament for Defence teams from around the world. The inaugural Challenge was held in Australia in 2007 and was won by the Australian Army. Following the success of this inaugural event, the Chief of the Australian Defence Force, Air Chief Marshall Angus Houston, AC, AFC, endorsed the Australian hosting of the event on 2009.
IDCC 09 will be held in Canberra, Australia from 15 - 28 November 2009 with teams from the Indian Defence Force, Royal Malaysian Airforce, New Zealand and Australian Defence Forces. All teams will compete in Twenty20 and Limited Over matches to be crowned the 2009 International Defence Champions. IDCC 09 will culminate on 27 November with the Challenge Grand Final between the two most successful teams and the selection of a World Defence XI who will play the Australian Cricketers' Association at Manuka Oval on 27 November.
Through out IDCC 09, money was being raised by the players, officials and sponsors to help support the McGrath Foundation (click here to donate). The competition players, officials and sponsors raised 17,610.50. The origninal goal was to raise $5,000, this was quickly passed and the goal moved to $10,000.00. The end of carnival function held at ADFA Cadet Mess on 26 Nov 09 pushed the monies raised well over the revised goal.
Thank you to every player, official and sponsor.
